The vendor list for the last summer market at 6845 Shoup Road on October 17 included Bay Water Bagels, Black Moon Oven, Black Squirrel Fresh Milled Flour, Blackhat Distillery, Bob's Roasted Nuts and Bubbling Buddha Soaps, plus dozens of other vendors. That ended the Saturday 9-to-1 schedule that had run every week since May 23 at the corner of Shoup Road and Black Forest Road.
The shopping goes on through the winter. From the first week of November to mid-December it moves to a community center, an elementary school and a brewery, all on Black Forest Road or just off it. The calendar also gets busier than the summer one. Between Wednesday, November 4, and Saturday, December 12, there are six separate market events at four addresses, and a year-round farm shop keeps the Shoup Road corner open on the days in between.
The Black Forest Arts & Crafts Guild Fall Show comes first, and it has been around much longer than anything else on this list. The Guild says it was established in 1965. Its spring and fall shows are held every year at the Black Forest Community Center, 12530 Black Forest Road, at the corner of Shoup and Black Forest roads. That's the same intersection the summer farmers market used.
This year's show runs five days, according to the Guild's website:
| Day | Date | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Wednesday | Nov. 4 | 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Thursday | Nov. 5 | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Friday | Nov. 6 | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Saturday | Nov. 7 | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Sunday | Nov. 8 | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
The Wednesday evening opening and the four 7 p.m. closes make this the one event of the season you can get to after a regular workday. The others are daytime events, most of them on Saturdays.
Guild membership is open to all Black Forest residents. Members sell quilts and afghans, baby items, paintings, pottery, jewelry, woodworking, stained glass, dolls, stitchery, note cards, baked goods, jams and jellies, and candles. The Guild's artist directory names makers such as Amanda Henegar, Angela Bowin, Bill Raudabaugh, Junesse Farley, Jenny George and Linda Parrish. The directory doesn't say who will have a table this year. The show's Peak Radar listing says admission is free and strollers aren't allowed inside the Community Center. The Guild also asks visitors to bring nonperishable food, which goes to Black Forest area food pantries. The show also appears in The Gazette's October 19 roundup of holiday craft fairs for Colorado Springs and the surrounding area.
The Guild is also a Colorado nonprofit with a scholarship fund for local students, supported by a donation from the Guild and by other members of the community.
Six days after the Guild show ends, Backyard Market Inc. holds the first of the two holiday markets it has scheduled in Black Forest. Its holiday markets page calls them "the first of TWO" and "the second of TWO." The dates and times on that page are printed on flyer images, so the details below come from the event listings on AllEvents.
Both markets are on Saturdays like the summer market, but they run 10 to 3 instead of 9 to 1. That moves the start an hour later and adds two hours at the end. Neither listing names individual vendors or gives admission or parking details. Check Backyard Market's own channels before you go. The summer lineup included All Natural Homestead Beef, Hidy Honey, Fox Meadow Farm, Further Up Farms and The Cheese People of Colorado Springs, but nothing published yet says which of them will be at the holiday markets.
Backyard Market ran the same two-market schedule last year, with markets on November 15 and December 13, 2025. The 2025 event pages are still online, so check that you're looking at the 2026 dates.
Every event is on Black Forest Road or a few steps off it on Shoup.
| Venue | Address | What happens there this season |
|---|---|---|
| Black Forest Community Center | 12530 Black Forest Rd. | Guild Fall Show, Nov. 4–8; Community Club Christmas Market, Dec. 5 |
| Edith Wolford Elementary | 13710 Black Forest Rd. | Backyard holiday markets, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12 |
| Black Forest Brewing Company | 11590 Black Forest Rd. #50 | Smaller Business Sunday market, Nov. 29; Gingerbread Party, Dec. 5 |
| The Backyard Farm Shop | 6845 Shoup Rd. | Open every day, all season |
In the summer, everything happened at one corner on one morning a week. In winter the same shopping is spread across six events, plus a farm shop open daily. The Shoup and Black Forest corner still has the most going on. Two of the six events are at the Community Center, and the farm shop sits at the same intersection.
Black Forest Brewing Company at 11590 Black Forest Road #50 has a holiday market for Smaller Business Sunday on November 29, with local makers, small businesses and handcrafted goods. The event lists two different time windows: the event card says 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the description says noon to 5 p.m. Noon to 4 is covered either way. If you want to go early or stay late, check the brewery's events page or its Facebook event first.
This is the only Sunday market on the calendar besides the last day of the Guild show. It's also the only one held at a business instead of a community building or school.
Two events that aren't connected land on the first Saturday of December.
The times overlap without lining up exactly. You can catch Santa at the brewery in the early afternoon and still get to the Christmas Market before it closes at 7. That evening close makes it the latest Saturday shopping on the calendar, since both Backyard holiday markets end at 3 p.m.
Christmas Unlimited is the beneficiary for the brewery event. Vendors who want a booth at the Community Club market still have the signup form linked on the club's homepage.
The Backyard Farm Shop at 6845 Shoup Road stays open all winter, and it's open more days a week than the summer market was. Its posted hours:
The shop describes its stock as Colorado produce, food items and some artisan gifts. It works with Mountain Freshies and Further Up Farms on weekly produce subscriptions. The shop says its hours may change for District 20 weather days and late-start Fridays. On a snowy morning, check before you drive over.
Saturday hours at the shop run 9 to 3. On November 14 and December 12, that overlaps the Backyard holiday markets up the road. The shop at the corner and the markets at 13710 Black Forest Road are both open at the same time on those days.
The Guild show is the first item on that list, and it opens Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the corner of Shoup and Black Forest roads.
At Strategic Property Advisors, we follow the Black Forest calendar through the winter months, including which weekends keep the Shoup Road corner busy.
